Baton Rouge targets top 10 blighted commercial properties for improvement

By Local Baton Rouge news desk

The City of Baton Rouge is targeting 10 high-priority blighted commercial properties across East Baton Rouge Parish for improvement.

Mayor-President Edwards says, “Our goal is not simply to tear buildings down. Our goal is to transform these commercial properties and put them back into productive use,”

The properties include locations on Mead Road, Government Street, and Florida Boulevard, among others.

The Mayor-President’s Office will evaluate each property and encourage investment and redevelopment for those that can be saved, while pursuing enforcement for those that pose public safety concerns.
